Chief Mine Engineer BC, Canada
An experienced Chief Mine Engineer is required for our 35,000 mtpd SABC Mid Tier Copper Mine. The operation is located 20km from Princeton, BC in south central British Columbia’s Similkameen Country approximately 3.5 hours by road east of Vancouver, BC.
Reporting to our General Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for development process, continuous short, medium and long-term planning of the mine. Support strategic planning through the application of extensive pit optimization, and reserve estimation experience.
Qualifications
• Professional Engineering Designation, must be registered or eligible to register as Professional Engineer in BC
• 10 years experience as a Mine Engineer, highly skilled in long and short term planning, scheduling, project and production management in Open Pit development
• Knowledge of B.C. Mines Code
Skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Preparation of reserve and resource statements. Coordinate engineering work to ensure it is completed with appropriate input from operations, geotechnical, drilling + blasting, system designs, surveying
• Provide final designs of pits, waste dumps, roads and other mining works
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with mine operations personnel and senior management
• Clear focus on best practices regarding health, safety and environment and cross functional team work with mine, maintenance and mill personnel, while maintaining a high level of environmental performance
• Auditing, monitoring and identifying improvements of planning systems and projects
• Ensure adherence to CMM environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements
• Good work ethic and a strong commitment to safety are basic requirements
• Provide mentorship to mining engineers in training
• Ability to operate Autocad, Gemcom, etc and other mine planning software products
