Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Process Safety Engineer provides technical support for Borger Nitrogen Operations. The incumbent will work directly with the Operations Department to ensure safe, efficient and reliable unit performance and make decisions to address problem areas and overall plant optimization

Specific responsibilities will include:

• Provide information and data to Engineering Manager for stewardship
• Establish and maintain site process safety stewardship program
• Support maintenance of Process Safety Information (PSI)
• Support the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) system and facilitate when required, particularly MOC PHA's
• Maintains site PHA schedule and responsible for scheduling PHA activities and ensuring schedule is met
• Working with the Area Coordinator, maintain and ensure compliance with Standard Operating Conditions and Limits (SOCL’s)
• Ensures process safety management training, including regular PHA information reviews, is completed
• Ensure the Management Of Change (MOC) procedure, including completion of Pre-Start-up Safety Review (PSSR), is followed in areas of responsibility
• Ensure engineering standards are maintained in areas of responsibility.
• Support process safety program by being an active member on Process Safety Council
• Site resource and focus for process safety education and knowledge development
• Roll-out and train site personnel on new developments and changes to process safety program
• Ensure Process Safety Events (PSE) are properly recorded in Incidenter and metrics are reported correctly
• Participate and leads process safety incident investigations and assist with follow up action items
• Analyzes PSE trends and metrics and dentifies problems and opportunities in the operating units with the goal of improved process safety performance
• Completion of PSM Compliance Assurance and providing reports on results

Qualifications of the Position Include:

• Chemical engineering degree or other engineering discipline with 8-10 years of experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge in pressure vessel, piping codes, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors and NDT inspection techniques a plus.
• Experience working with Dyadem PHAPro is beneficial.
• Experience working with MS Office and SAP.
