The AREVA Reactors & Services Business Group: The Reactors and Services Business Group combines the nuclear reactor design and construction activities and the products and services activities necessary for the maintenance, operation, modernization, and improvement of power plants. It also includes vessel propulsion nuclear reactor and research reactor activities. AREVA is currently constructing four EPR™ reactors, of generation III+. The Pump & Motor Services Section: The Pump & Motor Services Section of Nuclear Services is a rapidly growing business initiative of AREVA. Our section recently completed the new $15M Pump & Motor Service Center on our Mt. Athos Road site in Lynchburg VA., where we are engaged in the refurbishment of reactor coolant pumps and motors for the US commercial nuclear fleet. Our Field Services organization deploys to approximately 12 outages per season. In addition, our section supports parts, root cause analysis, vibration analysis, tooling development and project management to support RC Pumps, Seals and Motors. Job Description: AREVA is seeking Pump & Motor Mechanics. The position is a combination of P&MSC work and field work. This position involves direct customer interface, travel, working at heights, working around industrial hazards and working under QA surveillance. It also involves working on contaminated equipment and in a Radiological Control Area (RCA). Responsibilities and duties include:
- Providing hands-on support of contaminated pump & motor refurbishment and other services at the Pump & Motor Service Center.
- Detailed assembly of large vertical motors as well as smaller vertical and horizontal motors and pumps.
- Cleaning, inspecting, painting, electrical testing, and all other duties associated with pump and motor refurbishment.
Typical project include:
- Maintenance and refurbishment of contaminated reactor coolant pumps and motors at various reactor sites in the US (possibly abroad) and in our Lynchburg, VA. Pump & Motor Service Center.
- Refurbishment and routine service or RCPs, seals and motors in the field on site at nuclear plants in the USA.
All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
- High School Diploma plus 4 years technical experience.
- Strong mechanical background.
- Ability to understand and work with technical drawings.
- Ability to adhere strictly to procedures and follow QA requirements.
- Ability to work independently and in team environment.
- Must be able to obtain unescorted access to nuclear power plants to support occasional outage season work.
- Must be able to obtain rad-worker access to AREVA radiological facilities.
The following requirements are desired and will be used to differentiate all candidates who apply for this position.
- Rigging and precision positioning on equipment in excess of 100,000 lb.
- Large machinery disassemble and repair experience.
