looking for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Superior, Arizona. Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the management (definition, planning and implementation), and completion of all geotechnical aspects of an underground construction project and rock mass monitoring activities. 
• Assist in the completion of ground control aspects of a block cave pre-feasibility study. 
• For the underground construction aspect of the role, ensure that geotechnical issues (including ground support design, mine sequencing, monitoring and ground support quality control) are appropriately addressed in the design of underground excavations and that the designs are properly implemented and their safety verified. 
• Verify compliance with all company and external regulatory requirements. 
• Ensure that the ground control measures are optimized such that they allow the most efficient use of labor and materials while still providing a safe workplace. 
• For the Pre-feasibility Study (PFS) aspect, undertake and manage studies that will determine the suitability of the ground support designs, development sequences and advance rates used in the Pre-feasibility project business case.
• Maintain the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP) for Resolution's underground operations. 
• The role will be responsible for ensuring that the controls and procedures outlined in the document are being implemented and that compliance is verified through internal and external audits. 
• The GCMP needs to be maintained such that the company is meeting all Rio Tinto and external regulatory requirements regarding to geotechnical issues. 
• Undertake frequent underground visits to inspect and record ground support performance and undertake geotechnical data collection.  
• Provide regular updates on geotechnical issues to mine construction staff and underground personnel.  Design and implement a program for collection of geotechnical data from underground exposures, to ensure that sufficient geotechnical data is collected within the PFS time frame and that opportunities for data collection are not lost, as well as supplement and confirm the data from drilling and characterize the response of the rockmass to excavation.
• Ensure that the monitoring data from underground exposure is used to calibrate geotechnical models (empirical, analytical and numerical) that will then be capable of more accurately predicting the response of the rockmass under the range of conditions likely to be experienced during construction of the mine.
• Contribute to the PFS by managing technical analysis related to underground ground support, constructability, excavation design and sequencing.  
• Perform geotechnical data analysis and compilation and presentations of the technical data to a non-technical audience. 
• Conduct risk-based assessment of technical and safety related hazards.

Qualifications:    

• Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Mining or Civil Engineering, Geological Sciences, or related field.
• Five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in job offered or five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in a geotechnical or mining engineering-related occupation. 
• Special Skills: Experience must include: 1) project management (definition, planning and implementation); 2) ground control methodologies including ground support design, mine sequencing, monitoring and ground support quality control; 3) risk-based assessment of technical and safety related hazards; 4) geotechnical modeling (empirical, analytical and numerical); 5) geotechnical data collection for rock mass classification; 6) geotechnical data analysis and compilation; and 7) presentation of technical data to a non-technical audience.

• Less than 50% travel required to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites throughout the United States.
