Position Overview:
Operating on a 16 days on, 12 days off roster commuting from Cairns, you will work as part of a multicultural team on this exciting international project. Barrick Porgera is based in the Highlands of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and offers a unique and challenging work environment. At an elevation in excess of 2100 meters the Porgera Valley has a year round temperate climate with an annual rainfall of approximately 3.5 meters. The 2500 strong workforce is extremely diverse both culturally and in regards to education, skill and experience.

RAISEBORE OPERATOR TRAINER

The position
Reporting to the Underground Production Superintendent, this role will be responsible for all aspects of Raisebore drill setup and operation in compliance with standard operating procedures, as well as training and mentoring national Raisebore operators.

The person
You will possess significant experience as a Raisebore operator in a mechanized underground mining operation including previous experience in Training and / or supervisory experience. Must be self motivated and be able to demonstrate good operations judgement, with a decisive and results orientated nature. Previous experience in a developing country will be highly regarded.

You will also need experience of demonstrated success as an effective and supportive leader with proven ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness through effective communication and demonstrated experience in managing department costs, budgeting and application of continuous improvement ideas.

This challenging role requires you to engage with all people associated with the Barrick Porgera Operations and to understand, learn from and share cultural differences. It is essential that you have the capability and desire to transfer skills and knowledge to a national workforce.
