Job Title: High Voltage Electrical Lead Hand/Advisor Reports To: Process Site Services E & I Supervisor Location: Pueblo Viejo Site Position Overview: The incumbent will lead a small team responsible for the electric utility distribution system maintenance, operations, repair, testing, revamping and commissioning activities. The High-Voltage Lead Hand/Advisor Electrician will interact with internal clients, supervisors, co-workers and maintenance coordinators. Duties and Responsibilities - Operational Phase · Promote a safe, efficient and effective work culture focused on continuous improvement and achievement. · Ensure plant and equipment are maintained and operated in accordance with PVDC standards and procedures. · Respond to immediate work (breakdowns) in a safe and efficient manner. · Work closely with the Senior Electrical Engineer and E&I Supervisor to ensure safe, reliable and cost effective performance of the power systems. · In conjunction with the Planning section participate in work planning and scheduling, assign work and track completion as required.
- Actively participate in the development of electrical and instrumentation standards and procedures.
· Contribute to skills development by actively imparting knowledge to, and providing on-the-job training and mentoring of, Dominican national technicians and assistants. · Attend PVDC provided, Certified Assessor training as required. Use accredited assessment tools to evaluate national technicians to assess their plant specific skills and knowledge. · Assist with development of preventative maintenance programs, installation and repair activities of electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment as required. Supervisory Requirements: Supervision of High Voltage National Electricians and Assistants. Education:
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Completion of a certified program of competence in industrial electrical maintenance
- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
- Recognized High Voltage certification highly regarded
- Recognized Safety certification desirable
- Leadership or supervisory training desirable
Experience
- 4+ years experience working in the electric utility/distribution industry
- Demonstrated experience with power generation equipment
- Ability to analyze and resolve issues associated with power and transformer protection relays
Skills & Abilities · Proficient in the use of Microsoft products and CMMS systems. · Demonstrated ability to read 1-line/3-line diagrams, protection and metering diagrams and circuit breaker control diagrams is essential. · Ability to test, document, commission, and operate the various components of an electrical distribution system. · Proven technical skills fault finding and repairing complex electrical, instrumentation and control and communication systems. · Competent operating high and medium voltage electrical switchgear. · Able to work with minimal supervision and support in a technically challenging plant. · Experienced fault finding and troubleshooting of high voltage electrical systems and equipment. · Proven ability training and developing others. · Perform maintenance and repair on high-voltage switches, transformers, power circuit breakers (vacuum, air, and SF6), sectionalizing switches, duct banks, high-voltage cable, and other electrical equipment used in the distribution of electricity at the 4.16 kV, 13.8 kV, 34.5 kV and 230 kV voltage levels. · Perform troubleshooting, modification or revamp of protection, metering and control circuits of high voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers, switchgears, transformers, and other electrical equipment used in power distribution at the 4.16 kV, 13.8 kV, 34.5 kV and 230 kV voltage levels. · Perform switching of the electric utility distribution system to isolate components, de-energize equipment, and transfer load as directed. · Provide written and verbal reports, fills out preventative maintenance requests, deficiency reports, and work orders using a personal computer. · Perform all assignments in accordance with PVDC requirements encompassing the PVDC ‘Permit to Work’ system · Able to respond to immediate work (breakdown) call outs · Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
