Role synopsisEnsure compliance with applicable UK, European and International environmental legislation, the Environment Group Defined Practice (GDP 3.6-0001, October 2008) and the environmental requirements contained within Projects Operating Management System (OMS), Major Projects common process (MPcp), and the commitments made within the Quad204 Project Environmental Statement (ES).
Provide specialist environmental support and guidance to the project teams across all project activities and locations.
Support the Project HSSE Manager in the delivery of the BP HSSE Management Plan.Key accountabilitiesDemonstrate compliance with relevant environmental legislative requirements via the Compliance Assurance (COMPASS) database
Coordinate the project Permits, Licences, Authorisations, Notifications and Consents (PLANC) Register
Document compliance with the Environment GDP
Monitor close out of ES commitments
Provide environmental input into project design and review engineering documents
Provide environmental input to key project contracts e.g. development of environmental requirements in RFQs, evaluation of bids submitted, review of contractors to ensure compliance with contract requirements
Share environmental lessons learned within and outside the project
Conduct environmental awareness training courses
Manage the environmental aspects of the BP HSSE Management Plan
Coordinate external stakeholder engagement activities and liaise with regulatory authorities e.g. Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC). Marine Scotland and other stakeholders (e.g. fishing organisations, environmental groups) on environmental matters
Undertake environmental audits and inspections at construction and fabrication yards to provide assurance that contractual requirements including legal compliance are being fulfilled
Maintain register of Environmental Critical Equipment and environmental performance standards
Provide Environmental input to HSSE risk register
Interface with North Sea Region Environmental function/advisers to ensure alignment with NSR requirements and other North Sea projects (specifically Clair Ridge, Devenick, Andrew Area Development/Kinnoul).
Interface with BP GPO S&OR Environmental function/advisors to ensure alignment with emerging/future BP requirements.
Integrate project documentation into North Sea Region environmental management system (EMS). Liaise with Operations team to develop operating procedures for start-up in line with OMSEssential EducationBachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental ScienceEssential experience and job requirementsExtensive experience in the Environmental field, especially within the Oil & Gas industry.
Strong communication and team work skills.
Strong working knowledge of regional Environmental regulations and company policies and standards.Other essential skills and knowledgeAbility to network and a track record in delivering performance against demanding targets.
Ability to lead through influencing people outwith & within own team.
Strong Performance Bias and able to work under own initiative
