Description:
Reports To: President/General Manager with additional reporting to Corporate Director of Safety for Murray Energy Corporation
Responsibilities:
Train employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations, verify compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain necessary records, manage the participation in Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), and state inspections, providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures, ensures projects are completed on time and within budget, and acts as advisor to health and safety administration team regarding projects, tasks, and operations.
Safety Management
Manage and lead safety department
Conduct research to identify hazards, conditions that could produce accidents, financial losses and evaluate extent of injuries resulting from accidents
Coordinate safety activities and ensure their implementation
Regulatory Policies
Stay current on all Federal and State regulatory policies and environmental policies
Ability to assist with safety-related training as needed
Ability to coach personnel on how to thoroughly investigate accidents and development of effective corrective action recommendations
Ability to manage the flow of all required reports and documentation
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes
Knowledge of general office equipment and basic PC experience, with the ability to accurately author required mine plans and reports.
Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, vendors, and employees
