Detailed job responsibilities will include:

  • Perform a broad cross-section of complex technical and administrative activities which requires experience and specialization in Contract Compliance, Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA);
  • Inspection of tunnel, civil, and structural related construction work; inspection of soft ground TBM excavation, tunnel support, final lining, and grouting;
  • Understand applicable codes, standards and contract document requirements and monitoring construction activities to ensure compliance with contract documents;
  • Maintain or prepare project documentation including daily/weekly progress reports, material accounting records, and change records.
  • Perform inspection of excavation, fill placement, grading, compaction, and erosion control measures;
  • Perform surveillance and inspection of underground electrical and piping system installations including tightness, bedding, and grade;
  • Witness hydrostatic tests, electrical tests, and other methods of verification as specified;
  • Field check placement/location of supports, reinforcing steel, embeds, anchor bolts, forming system, shoring, and sub-base material before placement of concrete;
  • Perform continuous inspection of protective coatings to ensure compliance with thickness and coverage requirements;
  • Provide general inspection of all contractor and subcontractor work;
  • Verify foundation and structural survey coordinates and elevations;
  • Monitor contractors' compliance with approved Quality Control Plan;
  • Make recommendations for improvements to standard construction QC provisions as they apply in the field;
  • Assure compliance with approved submittals.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 years of tunnel/general civil/structural inspection or experience in tunnel construction.
  • Experience documenting installation of work and contractor's performance.
  • Experience with ANSI, ACI, AWS, and other applicable codes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of tunnel/civil/structural inspection or experience in tunnel and pipeline construction preferred.

In order to meet this demand, we are looking for key Superintendents to help us ensure our projects are built on time, under budget and exceeding owner expectations. Our Rail Systems Installation Superintendents are a major cornerstone of our company that help supervise construction of an electrical portion of projects ranging in size from $15 to $200MM.

    The Rail Systems Installation Superintendent will report directly to the Project Manager. Superintendents are expected to spend most of their time in the field and must be comfortable working outdoors in construction site conditions. Some night and weekend work is normally required, depending on project requirements.

    Tasks
    * Responsible for controlling costs and maintaining profitability in the superintendent’s discipline

    * Examines drawings and specifications for various work tasks and ensure current information is passed down to front line supervision

    * Schedules crews according to available work packages for the project and all required equipment and materials necessary to complete the task

    * Conducts regular inspections of craft work and quality as well as insure installation is per specification

    * Assists foremen in maintaining safe workplace

    * Monitor timely delivery of necessary materials and schedules necessary Company equipment to assure continued productivity

    * Conducts regular safety meetings with craft employees addressing specific work areas and conditions that require attention stressing compliance with Company and regulatory safety procedures

    * Track project schedule and cost reports

    * Coordinates work activities and installations with other craft supervision to assure productivity and to eliminate conflicts in the field

    * Ensure training and development of craft supervisors and employees

    * Ensure subordinate personnel comply with company policies and procedures

    * Administer discipline as needed in a fair and consistent manner 

    * Resolve/diffuse issues using open communication with employees and management
